Adoption Process

Step 1

Apply

Fill out the adoption application. Be as detailed as possible. Your information will be used to help match you to the perfect parrot.

Step 2

Appointment

An approval will be sent via text or email, so keep an eye out. Once you are approved, you will be able to schedule an appointment to meet the parrots.

Step 3

Meeting

Now, You will visit the parrots to see how You do with them and how they will do with You. During this time, You will also learn and be educated on the birds You are meeting. Everyone has their own special approach that they are comfortable with and have their own preferences for everything.

Step 4

Adoption

Some parrots can be adopted same day, some parrots require time to get to know You. Espacially if they are dealing with PTSD or other conditions. For those birds, You can schedule multiple appintments until they are able to form a bond and trust You.

Common Questions

Do you ship parrots?

Valleywide Parrot Rescue will never ship a bird for adoption! We do allow out of state adoptions for qualified adopters, however You would have to make the trip Yourself. You can either drive, or fly with Delta(please confirm with the airline in advance).

That is a great and important question. The answer is: it depends on the bird. We have a wide array of different parrots. Some are easygoing and perfect for beginners. Other birds are more complicated and suitable for people with intermediate experience. Then there are birds that require extensive experience and are not suitable for people who are unprepared.

Adoption fees vary from Parrot to Parrot, but are much less than buying from a store or breeder. Although this is a non-profit organization, non-profits still require income to operate, especially with all the costs associated with parrot care on such a large scale. Adoption fees are non-negotiable…this is not a flee market.
