Adopt a Parrot — Not From a Breeder or Pet Store
If you’re searching for a parrot for sale, a cockatiel for sale, a macaw for sale, a conure for sale, or looking for bird breeders near you, we’d like you to consider a better option: adoption. Valleywide Parrot Rescue is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit parrot rescue based in Phoenix, Arizona.
Why Adopt a Parrot Instead of Buying One?
Thousands of parrots are surrendered, abandoned, or neglected every year. Many of these birds were originally purchased from breeders or pet stores by owners who didn’t realize the decades-long commitment a parrot requires. African Grey parrots, macaws, cockatoos, and Amazon parrots can live 40 to 80 years. Even smaller species like cockatiels, conures, and Quaker parrots live 20 to 30 years. When you adopt a parrot from Valleywide Parrot Rescue instead of buying from a breeder, bird store, or online listing, you are giving a displaced bird a second chance at a loving home. Our adoption fees are significantly lower than buying from a parrot breeder or pet store, and every dollar goes directly toward rescuing and caring for more birds in need.
Species Available for Adoption
We rescue and rehome all species of companion parrots. Our available birds include African Grey parrots (Congo and Timneh), Amazon parrots (double yellow-headed, blue-fronted, yellow-naped, lilac-crowned), macaws (blue and gold macaw, scarlet macaw, green wing macaw, Hahn’s macaw, military macaw, hyacinth macaw), cockatoos (umbrella cockatoo, Moluccan cockatoo, sulphur-crested cockatoo, rose-breasted cockatoo, Goffin’s cockatoo), cockatiels, conures (sun conure, green cheek conure, jenday conure, pineapple conure, nanday conure, blue crown conure), Indian ringneck parakeets, Quaker parrots (monk parakeets), Eclectus parrots, Senegal parrots, caiques, pionus parrots, budgies (budgerigars, parakeets), lovebirds, parrotlets, lorikeets, and more. Before searching for an African Grey for sale, a cockatoo for sale, a macaw breeder, or a conure breeder near you, check our available birds — your new companion may already be here waiting for you.
Nationwide Parrot Rescue — We Accept Birds From Every State
While our rescue is located in Phoenix, Arizona, we accept surrendered and displaced parrots from across the entire United States. Whether you are in California, Texas, Florida, New York, Colorado, Nevada, or anywhere else in the country, we can help you rehome your parrot safely and responsibly. If you need to surrender a bird, rehome a parrot, or find a rescue that will take your bird, contact Valleywide Parrot Rescue. We work with families nationwide to coordinate safe transport and intake for birds of all species.
Our Adoption Process
Every parrot in our care receives hands-on socialization, proper nutrition, and any necessary veterinary attention before being placed for adoption. Our adoption process includes a qualification application, a meet-and-greet with the bird, and ongoing support after you bring your new feathered companion home. Adoption fees vary by species and help cover the cost of food, medical care, and rescue operations. Whether you’re a first-time bird owner looking to adopt a cockatiel or budgie, or an experienced parrot owner ready to adopt a macaw, cockatoo, or African Grey, we are here to match you with the right bird for your home and lifestyle.
