What Should My Parrot Be Eating?
This is an age old question whose answer has changed so much over the years. Of course it would. For centuries, bird enthusiasts and pet
Do YOU believe that every person has a unique way to contribute to the world, a capability that sets them apart? When individuals unite with their special gifts, they form a mosaic of purpose and meaning. No two pieces fit the same way, yet together, they complete the puzzle.
Before YOU can reap the rewards of making an impact, ask yourself, “What do I have to offer?” This question is the first step to realizing your potential. But without identifying exactly what YOU can do, progress remains out of reach. This article is designed to ignite your creativity and help you discover that distinctive quality within you. The goal? To help YOU find your place in the Parrot Community.
Before we dive in, who is Valleywide Parrot Rescue? What began as a small family endeavor has since blossomed into Arizona’s largest and most TRUSTED Non-Profit Parrot Rescue. Our mission is to shelter lost, neglected, and abused parrots. We rehabilitate them with the goal of taking them from cold cages to warm, caring homes.
This rescue effort is not solely our passion; it belongs to everyone who contributes to making our mission a reality. And soon, that could be YOU! While not every method can fit everyone, these suggestions aim to get YOU thinking so you can figure out what makes YOU unique. Let’s begin!
Do you have a passion for animals and a strong online presence? Why not launch a Facebook fundraiser in your name? This approach yields numerous benefits. On your own, you can only contribute so much. Instead, engage your friends, family, and coworkers, and your efforts will create a profound impact. Every dollar raised goes a long way in providing parrots with the care, love, and attention they deserve.
A few things to remember:
YOU don’t need superpowers to brighten a bird’s day. By simply donating bird food, YOU can ensure that parrots in need have access to a filling and nutritious diet. Check with your local rescue organization for their specific food requirements. Your contribution will not only fill their tummies, but also keep them healthy and content.
Here are a few ways to help with food:
Parrots love toys and require spacious cages for their mental health and physical stimulation. Instead of purchasing these items from large-chain pet stores, consider shopping at a rescue organization or a local parrot-related shop. Not only will YOU provide YOUR feathered friends with top-quality toys and housing at a lower cost, but your purchase will also directly support your local community AND the rescue’s mission.
Supplies YOU can get at a Discount:
Now, let’s get a bit more niche. Do you have an old car gathering dust in your driveway? Put it to good use by donating it to Valleywide Parrot Rescue. Your old wheels can be transformed into much-needed resources to support our rescue efforts. Plus, you’ll be helping the environment while aiding parrots. It’s a win-win!
How this helps:
If YOU have a house that you no longer need or use, consider donating it in your name to Valleywide Parrot Rescue. Your surplus property can be transformed into a valuable resource that helps us expand our facilities, create safe and spacious habitats for parrots, or establish educational centers to raise awareness about the needs of our incredible avian friends. We are especially looking for an actual home, since that is the environment the parrots come from.
Benefits:
Are YOU looking to leave a lasting legacy for generations to come? Consider including Valleywide Parrot Rescue in your estate planning. YOUR generosity will ensure that the love and care for parrots continue long into the future, creating a legacy of compassion and support that will touch the lives of countless parrots in need. YOUR name will be etched into the project or projects you help fund, and everyone passing through will know that YOU are the one to thank. It’s a remarkable way to be remembered and make a difference that will resonate for years to come.
Benefits:
Last but certainly not least, the most DIRECT way YOU can help parrots is by making a monetary donation. Your financial support is what enables us to rescue, rehabilitate, and provide lifelong care for parrots in need. Every dollar counts and contributes to the well-being of these incredible birds.
How YOU can benefit:
By taking these instrumental actions, you become an integral part of the Valleywide Parrot Rescue family and a genuine hero to the parrots we serve. Your generosity, whether through Facebook fundraisers, bird food donations, old car contributions, property, Legacy Gifts, or direct monetary gifts, has the power to transform the lives of parrots in need. Together, we can ensure these wonderful, vibrant creatures have the love, care, and support they deserve. Embrace your inner hero, and let’s make a difference, one parrot at a time!

I called Valleywide about a month ago asking if I could surrender my green cheek conure. Sadly, they were not getting the attention they deserved. The owner so graciously was willing to take Luna in. This very morning , just shy of a month, they called me to let me know Luna has found a a forever home. I am so grateful for Valleywide taking care of my birdie when I was unable to do so. Thank you.
I found myself in a challenging situation with my African Grey after my husband passed away. I called Valleywide Parrot Rescue and Ben was at my house the same day. Not only did he and his mom take amazing care of her, they found her a wonderful new home within a few weeks. Thank you for everything you do!
Ben and his mom were great, we've had an amazing experience, we recommend to go to them if you're looking to adopt a bird, Baby is doing great and Ben is of great help when we have questions s about Baby
This is a wonderful rescue! They are so kind and caring. We were first time bird adopters and Ben spent plenty of time educating us and helping us choose the perfect bird! We're so excited and in love with our new baby.
I was very happy with the male lovebird we got from Ben and was very pleased that he was knowledgeable about knowing how to tell the gender without a DNA test. His name is Diego and we already started training him on our shoulder 😀 Thank you Ben, we love him!
They very reasonably priced and very friendly. They are also quite knowledgeable. The rescue is very clean and birds are very well taken care of. I will definitely stay in touch with them and would refer anyone to them.
Ben was awesome, I was surprised to actually get a real human on the phone, very pleased with his attitude and drive to help me when I caught a cockatiel and needed assistance. I liked the fact that he was open where to drop off and phone numbers to get a hold of him later in the day, I also liked that he was very responsive in text messaging.
Highly recommend! It is hard to find a local parrot rescue so I was very happy to find Valleywide Parrot Rescue. I was looking for a friend for my other cockatiel. It has only been 3 days since we’ve brought Snow home but it feels like it’s been way longer! He is such a great bird and I am happy to have found him. Thank you Ben! :)
Valley Wide Parrot Rescue is 1st class. Cares for birds, very knowledgeable and helpful. Wonderful experience.
Ben is knowledgeable and caring. My neighbor's two parrots took to him quickly. He has a gift with birds. Big thanks to Ben for his kindness and to this wonderful organization.
I highly recommend working with Ben and Valleywide Parrot Rescue. I faced a challenging situation in that my neighbor died and I started to care for his two birds. I loved the experience but with summer approaching, I could not imagine being able to care for the birds since I also host 6 cats who are also rescues. Because my neighbor left his state to NPR, the estate lawyers found Ben after having contacted the AZ Humane society. From my conversation with the Humane Society and Ben, the choice was clear. Ben arrived promptly, was responsible, polite, warm, and knowledge. The birds recognized his kind spirit instantly! The unimaginable occurred. Ben and the birds bonded instantly; Ben showed the birds affection, kind words, soft nurturing sounds; it was a match. My concerns were ease. These are beautiful birds, native to the Amazon forest, they are gentle, friendly, and affectionate. I am grateful and encourage the reader to consider Ben and Valleywide Parrot Rescue. I know where I will be sending a donation from my tax returns this year! Hope you do the same.
I visited Valleywide Parrot Rescue today to see what it was like. Ben and his family are very nice and friendly. They definitely love birds. Their birds are sweet and healthy. I have been looking for a place to board my bird for a weekend to get away. I would feel very comfortable leaving my bird there. Would recommend!
Ben was a great help with the love bird I found. He is in good hands now. Lucky to have good knowledgeable people willing to help!
Valley wide parrot rescue is a wonderful place for birds of all kind. The owners have such a passion for rescue and rehabilitation and provide an incredibly loving and caring home for their birds.

The stuff at the valley parrot rescue has a lot of knowledge on their birds and give a good advices.
I had to surrender my parrot yesterday to this wonderful group. I inherited my mother's parrot had her for 13 years, but knew she needed more help then I can give. They graciously helped me out and I will still be able to be a part of her life. Kim was especially kind to me as it was traumatic for me too. Great full for these folk.
My husband and I had a great experience with Ben and his mother when we adopted our sweet baby lovebird. They are lovely people, and it is obvious they truly care about the birds in their home. We would highly recommend adopting through Valleywide Parrot Rescue.
My son was going through depression and was being bullied. We didn’t know what to do. we came across VPR and thought maybe we can get him a pet bird. We came to and saw many birds available and ended up taking Rocky. He’s the best Parrot VPR gave my son his life back he loves him Thank You ..
Ben was very nice, helpful 👍 Wonderful little birds! I will be going back! I would Highly Recommend ✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️
Ben has been so helpful. A friend has to leave her bird and I was caring for him but my little birds were not doing so good with such a loud bird. Ben’s team found him an incredible home without any judgement. Also, the macaw 🦜, Jasper, trusted Ben so fast .He allowed me to stay in touch and get updates, then he called when he found a home 😊 great experience!
We adopted a parakeet to be company for my older father. Ben was very helpful and kind. Paulie is doing great in his new home. Thank you for the good work you are doing, Ben!
Rehomed a cockatiel with valley wide . He loves his new home, Ben helped a lot , will be back to get another friend soon.
We traveled from Las Vegas to pick up our boy we are very happy with him
We visited before the holidays to see if a cockatiel would be a good fit for our family. This guy happily perched on my kids shoulders, clearly he has been well handled and cared for. We saw a rescue happen real time as a love bird was dropped off by someone no longer able to care for it. The process was kind and humane for all involved. Valleywide’s passion for birds is easy to see. It felt good to give a bird in need a new home. The prices are fair and go towards the care of the other birds. We adopted the cockatiel and purchased the used cage the bird was already accustomed to.
They are so amazing. My daughter's Love bird died and she had had it for 5 years so it was very hard on her. I Rescued a love bird And he is our new family member. If you want clean healthy birds and good people to deal with this is the place to go to. THANK YOU....
What am amazing experience we had with Valleywide Parrot Rescue! Our parakeet, who was in need of a new friend, could not be happier with having Charlie join the family. We are pretty excited, too, as we were able to rescue the perfect little sweetie. 😉 Thank you, VPR! 🐦❤️

I attended the Valley’s bird adoption event last Sunday ( 8-28-22). They had many different kinds available. 2 of my friends found exactly the birds they were looking for! I lucked out with a big box of toys and the perfect manzanita tree perch, with seed/water cups included. Their prices were incredibly low & the staff was very friendly & helpful. We would definitely come back again.
I adopted a bird from Valley Wide Parrot Rescue today. I was very impressed with the cleanliness of the birds environment and how ALL the birds were healthy and happy. I couldn’t be more pleased with my experience.
My home is whole again after bringing home my beautiful new friend!.... thank you Ben!
Valley Parrot rescue ., knowing the love ,caring and deep empathy you have for birds is everything and most comforting to know That my bird is in a better place. Thank you for all you do.
Valleywide Parrot Rescue provides a safe and engaging environment for birds in need of a new home. The birds are happy and well cared for. They have plenty of space and individualized attention. Valleywide took in my African Grey and immediately he found a mate and is very happy there.
Valleywide Parrot Rescue was so easily willing to take in a parakeet who was not receiving the love and attention that he deserved and required. We are so thankful for them! And so happy/relieved to know that he is in good hands.
Unfortunately, I was no longer able to take care of my cockatiel Peter, who had gotten really aggressive throughout the years. I felt very confident dropping him off with Ben, who was very kind and professional! I was nervous about finding a rescue I could trust but now I feel secure knowing that Peter is being given much better care than I was able to give him. :) Highly, highly recommend this parrot rescue!
Ben is one of the kindest gentleman. Putting in so much work out of the kindness of his heart to help out many birds in need of assistance. His love to avery world really shows through his work. Due to family circumstances my bird went thru lots of stress it found peace in a new home

Ben was very responsive when we reached out to him for help rehoming the little Budgie that flew in our window. You could tell he was caring and kind to the birds. If you need help with a feathered friend don’t hesitate to call Ben at Valleywide Parrot Rescue!
Best parrot rescue hands down! I know the parrots are very well taken care of. The owner is very knowledgeable and spends lots of time caring for the birds, playing with them, washing, grooming and does his best to hand tame them.
Ben and his mother were amazing. They took in my untamed, hostile birds to give them a better life than I was able to. They were very nice and knowledgeable about all the birds in their rescue! Thank you guys again for all the help!
